Kenny Lui is currently in the BFA program at the University of Hawaii Manoa where he spends most of his time in the studio creating work that is a product of his deep inner emotions. The process is as painful as his emotions are; he uses oil pastels and forces them into the canvas to create a rich textural surface. The final outcome embodies his deepest most intimate feelings focused unto a canvas for the world to see.
I visited Kenny in his studio over the past month too hang out and document his process. He is at his studio almost everyday and spends late nights working on his canvas or brainstorming ideas there. Here are a few shots of Kenny in his natural environment...
